Waterloo-Kitchener United Mennonite Church
The congregation belongs to Mennonite Church Eastern Canada, in the Anabaptist tradition of believers' baptism, peace and community discernment. It describes itself as an urban Christian congregation of more than ninety years' standing, welcoming people of diverse backgrounds and every age.
Waterloo-Kitchener United Mennonite Church worships on George Street, a block from the uptown crossroads, in a building the city’s heritage inventory records. The congregation goes back to the Mennonite migration out of Soviet Russia: 875 immigrants reached Waterloo on 19 July 1924, and in June 1925 fifty-eight of them organized a new congregation. It marked its hundredth year recently and belongs to Mennonite Church Eastern Canada.
