Waterloo-Kitchener United Mennonite Church worships on George Street, a block from the uptown crossroads, in a building the city's heritage inventory records. The congregation goes back to the Mennonite migration out of Soviet Russia: 875 immigrants reached Waterloo on 19 July 1924, and in June 1925 fifty-eight of them organized a new congregation. It marked its hundredth year recently and belongs to Mennonite Church Eastern Canada.
