## What they believe
Erb Street belongs to Mennonite Church Eastern Canada, in the Anabaptist tradition of believers' baptism, peace and community discernment. The congregation describes itself as a welcoming and inclusive community of diverse persons each contributing uniquely to its common purpose of following Jesus Christ.

## About this congregation
Erb Street Mennonite Church is the oldest congregation on this list and older than the city around it. Services began in 1837, thirty-four years after the Pennsylvania German Mennonites bought the tract that became Waterloo, and the congregation formally organized in 1851 and occupied its first building the same year. It built again in 1902, 1950 and 1980, and still stands on the street named for one of those founding families.

The congregation belonged to the Mennonite Conference of Ontario and Quebec, which merged in 1987 into what is now Mennonite Church Eastern Canada. It worships on Sunday mornings at a quarter to ten, in person and by Zoom.
